Double Sequential Defibrillation - Position Statement
Latest scientific studies show new insights on vector change and double sequential external defibrillation (DSED) by two defibrillator devices in patients with refractory ventricular fibrillation. The recent study on vector change and DSED published in NEJM defines DSED as delivering two defibrillation shocks within one second, but not simultaneously.1
The defibrillator outlets of our products corpuls3 and corpuls3T are protected against defibrillation shocks up to 5kV. Therefore, it is technically safe to deliver a shock with a second corpuls3/corpuls3T.
As the recent publication doesn’t show a significant difference of DSED over vector change, we recommend to adhere to the current ERC Guidelines and consider vector change in patients with refractory ventricular fibrillation.
